How exciting! I’ve been cast for a part in a webcomic trailer to advertise the webcomic Nidhogg. I’ll be playing Nero, who plays opposite Johanna (“Jo”). It’s just the two of us exchanging a few lines for the ad, which will be released after the creator gets back in the saddle releasing the next section of the webcomic and has time after other obligations.

I was actually shortlisted for this role way back on March 10, so I’ve been hoping to hear the good news for a while. I really connected to this character when I saw what she was about–that she feels inspired by her companion and finds her dreams beautiful, and thinks maybe she can follow Jo into something meaningful. I read her as very reserved, and grateful for the friendship without being desperate about it. That came out with a calm sort of longing that I filtered into my audition, and it looks like it landed well for the artist making the decision!

I also had an exchange with the artist a while before being cast because I just wanted to say I enjoyed reading the webcomic. I don’t always go digest the entirety of someone’s work if I’m trying to become attached to an existing project, but in this case the idea was intriguing (I also write a fantasy webcomic!), and I really enjoyed checking it out. I want to follow the comic and read more of it, and I hope the trailer I’ll be helping to make will bring in more people to read it.
