After a two-stage audition, looks like I have been cast as Liora in Order of Cassius: Phalaris. She’s my first villain! Mwa-ha-ha.
I auditioned initially on July 21 and got shortlisted on July 23. But then the creator of this project sent me a challenge: I was asked to perform some humming and singing because the character is an actress and performer who will have to incorporate some music into her lines.
I was sent some original music and replied with a recording of my rendition, and then today I received the notification that I was chosen for the role. I’m really jazzed about it!
The idea of having a more whimsical character like this also be a bad guy is great fun–I channeled my inner Ty Lee (from The Last Airbender) to get this voice right. I’m looking forward to the interesting prospect of using a more musical way of speaking as well. It’ll help her feel more theatrical, more like she’s performing with every exchange. I just hope it doesn’t make her sound overacted.
This is the folk song I’m going to be emulating in one scene.
