About the story: Phalaris is an adapted audio drama from a short novella taking place in a fantasy setting. Iskander and Selvara Bathory are a couple under a passive Matriarch that has allowed the Order of Cassius, a group of religious monster hunters, to encircle and trap their family inside Lieska. After centuries of stagnation some of the family members grew restless and try to expand their territory starting with the closest city of Rostovka. Three heroes unknowingly stumble into the invasion and must use their unique skillset together to fend off this determined threat. This production contains original music.
Character Description: Liora is one of the five in the brotherhood of agony–a villain character. She is the most emotionally expressive character in the story and thrives on attention. Sometimes appearing with High Priest Corvayn (but not seeming to particularly respect him), she travels with the Bathory family to descend upon Rostovka and make some claim to the city. Liora is an impatient, theatrical type with talents for singing and stage, and seems to see everything through a lens of performance metaphors. She is impulsive and ready with a weapon, and is capable of some deeply despicable acts.
What do I like best about playing this character: Her energy as a character is new to me–the way everything she does screams how hungry she is to be the center of attention. Playing a villain is not usual for me, so I’ve been very excited to do it, and I love that I get to sing, hum, and be dramatic without it being out of place.
What do I like least about playing this character: This is one of the goriest productions I’ve been in and reading about (not to mention acting out) some of this character’s actions makes me a little ill. I guess it goes along with playing a villain, but it’s difficult to fully connect to her when I don’t relate to why she does what she does.
