About the comic: This is an in-progress webcomic set in an alternate world. In a world where everyone has a superpower, two teens decide to start a gang for fun. But this is a city with a long history of violence, filled with rival gangs that will force them to fight for their place in it. On the first day of school, Nero meets the enthusiastic Jo, who talks her into being friends and says her dream is to join a gang. But even though offering protection through gang alliance is appealing, it can also put a target on an idealistic kid’s back. . . .

Character Description: This role involves voicing a few lines in a trailer for the webcomic. Nero is a 16-year-old girl, a bit tomboyish, and generally keeps to herself. But she’s willing to latch onto and connect with those who reach out to her. She comes across as grounded and calm, but there are times when she gets caught up in the moment and can get ahead of herself. She is cultivating an important relationship with her new friend Jo.

What do I like best about playing this character: A mostly calm character is really a pleasure to do. I felt like I understood this character really well after I read the webcomic she’s from, and it was easy to find a voice that fit her and feel confident in playing her. I like keeping her tone warm with a little longing–it’s very different from playing a stoic or monotone character who might be similarly steady, and I like that variety.

What do I like least about playing this character: I’m honestly just disappointed there’s so little work for me to do in her character because it’s just a trailer and there are no current plans to fully voice any scenes or anything.
