About the show: HollowCreek: The Arrielle Tapes is a psychological prequel to the upcoming HollowCreek Visual Novel Game, centered around Arrielle Sonen, a promising student whose dream of joining the prestigious “Hollow Circle” turns into her downfall. Through a series of eerie, emotional audio logs, players will piece together Arrielle’s slow descent—from ambition and admiration to fear and regret—uncovering the hidden truth about the elite society that controls HollowCreek Academy. Think of it as a “found tape mystery”—cinematic, atmospheric, and personal. Inspired by the likes of Life is Strange, Persona 5, and Doki Doki Literature Club, but with its own grounded, haunting tone.
Creator’s Character Description: Determined student with big dreams, masking insecurity beneath her optimism.
What do I like best about playing this character: Hopeful, naïve characters getting broken is a challenging dynamic and therefore really fun. I also really like the valedictorian type characters–the ones who know they’re something special and have that confidence (with a little arrogance). She’s got something to prove, but deep down thinks she’s got what it takes to be recognized. Variety and tonal shift as she figures out she’s bitten off more than she can chew keeps this work interesting.
What do I like least about playing this character: The way I’ve been coached to play her feels on the border of overacting at times, and even though I know this “type” of character really does sometimes exist, I second-guess myself about whether I’m playing her too cheesy.
