About the show: Ward Nine is a psychological horror audio drama set inside a mysterious, off‑the‑record psych facility for the misunderstood, the unusual… and the supernatural. A researcher is granted temporary access to Ward Nine to interview several residents and get their stories. Some are human, some are not, some believe they’re saving the world, some believe the world is saving them. The deeper the interviewer goes, the more the line between sanity and monstrosity begins to blur.

This project is dialogue‑heavy, emotion‑driven, and atmospheric, with a focus on character acting and subtle horror rather than gore or shock value.

Creator’s Character Description: Marisol is a mother. When her child disappeared she lost faith in the system and became a vigilante. She’s sharp, impatient, defensive. She sees herself as a protector with no remorse for what she’s doing.

What do I like best about playing this character: Portraying someone who gives a negative crap about everything except her one specific motivating factor is challenging and fun. One of the voices I was instructed to use as inspiration was Lapis Lazuli from Steven Universe (my favorite show!) and I could immediately envision the “just SO done” vibe I wanted for Marisol. I love a character with conviction.

What do I like least about playing this character: The casting notes wanted a low female voice, so to be honest I was surprised to be chosen for it–so when I do this character, I am scraping the underside of my range a bit, and it wouldn’t be sustainable for a more robust role.
