Today I was chosen to play Mara Keene in an upcoming show called Us?
The show is about a stalker who believes he can orchestrate a relationship with the girl of his choosing just by making decisions and taking actions that make the most sense to HIM, “earning” the attention of a woman. I was attracted to this audition because there’s so much discourse surrounding this very topic and I’m pretty active in those discussions–how some men don’t understand that they don’t get to develop their own checklist for what entitles them to female companionship and submit it to receive one (1) attractive girlfriend. The show notes say it’s from the stalker’s perspective, but the audience will still be able to detect his disturbing attitudes and see them as red flags.
I’m sure it’s going to be unnerving to play the stalking victim, but I definitely feel like I’ve been in her shoes, so I hope I can do justice to her.
I auditioned on January 3, 2026, shortlisted January 6, and was selected to play Mara on January 8; pretty quick turnaround! The competition wasn’t huge but I apparently won out over 15+ people, so that’s nice to know!
