About the show: An educational/dark humor audio drama about the history of artificial intelligence, in the style of The Firesign Theatre, Stan Freberg, and the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Initially, this will be an episode of the creator’s Podcast – The Egotistical Podcast – but later will be released on Audible.
Creator’s Character Description: Samantha is a quantum A.I. that brings about the end of humanity.
What do I like best about playing this character: I really enjoy playing robots! Samantha isn’t supposed to sound artificial, but I enjoyed figuring out how to make her detached and dispassionate about human beings while also staying connected to her weird sense of fun.
What do I like least about playing this character: I had a little trouble getting into character with her. She’s actually supposed to be kind of childlike, enjoying the horrors she wreaks on humanity, but it was difficult sometimes to avoid tones of resentment, frustration, or snarkiness that would normally come with a character who wants to kill people. Also, because she’s an A.I., I didn’t want to do any vocal fry or rasp, and wanted to avoid sounding like I was breathing unless it was for effect, so that required a lot of control for the relatively few lines I had to deliver.
